Privacy policy

1. Who is responsible for your data

Data controller for this website and related client communications: Viewport Solutions.

Privacy contact:contact@viewportsolutions.com · Contact form

2. Scope of this policy

This policy applies to information collected through this website, email correspondence related to services, and billing through Stripe. It does not govern third-party websites (including Stripe’s payment pages), which have their own privacy policies.

3. Information I collect

3.1 Information you provide

  • Contact form: name, email address, project type, budget range, timeline, stack preference, and message content
  • Email: any information you include when corresponding about scope, billing, or support
  • Billing: name, email, and billing details necessary to issue invoices and maintain records (payment card data is handled by Stripe, not stored on this site)

3.2 Information collected automatically

The hosting provider may log standard server data (IP address, browser type, request time, pages requested) for security and reliability. This website does not use advertising networks, social media pixels, or third-party analytics trackers such as Google Analytics.

3.3 Admin inbox (operator only)

Contact form submissions are stored so I can read and respond to inquiries. Internal notes may be added for follow-up. This admin area is password-protected and not accessible to the public.

4. How I use your information

  • To respond to project inquiries and provide customer support
  • To prepare quotes, written scope, and contractual communications
  • To issue invoices and process payments through Stripe
  • To deliver the software development services you purchased
  • To maintain accounting, tax, and legal records as required by law
  • To protect this website from abuse and unauthorized access

I do not sell your personal information. I do not use your data for unrelated marketing lists or share it with data brokers.

5. Legal bases for processing (where applicable)

Processing is based on performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps (responding to your inquiry), legitimate interests in operating a professional services practice, and compliance with legal obligations (tax and accounting). Where consent is required (e.g. optional communications), you may withdraw it by contacting me.

6. Payment processing (Stripe)

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you pay an invoice, you provide payment information directly to Stripe on their secure pages. I receive confirmation of payment and billing contact details needed for records — not your full card number.

See Stripe’s privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant for card processing.

7. Service providers and sharing

Personal data may be shared only with:

  • Stripe — payment processing and invoicing
  • Hosting / infrastructure — operating this website and storing contact submissions
  • Email provider — sending and receiving business correspondence
  • Professional advisors — accountants or lawyers when required, under confidentiality
  • Authorities — when required by valid legal process

Each provider is used only to the extent necessary to deliver services or comply with law.

8. International transfers

If you access this site from another country, your information may be processed where the Provider and service providers operate. Stripe and hosting vendors may process data in additional locations under their own safeguards.

9. Data retention

  • Contact inquiries: retained while relevant to an active or potential engagement, then deleted or archived unless needed for legal records
  • Contracts and invoices: retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting laws (typically seven years unless a longer period applies)
  • Server logs: retained according to hosting provider defaults, generally short-term unless needed for security investigation

10. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect data, including HTTPS, access controls on admin systems, and secure hosting. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure; you share information at your own risk for unencrypted email.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal data I hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of data not required for legal or contractual retention
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Receive a copy of data you provided in a portable format where applicable

To exercise these rights, email contact@viewportsolutions.com. I will respond within a reasonable time. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA; I do not sell personal information as defined under that law.

12. Children’s privacy

Services are professional software development for adults and businesses hiring contractors. This site is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their information.

13. Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. A session cookie may be set when the site operator logs into the private admin inbox; visitors to public pages are not required to accept cookies for basic browsing. Essential cookies or local storage may be used by the hosting platform for security and load balancing.

14. Links to other sites

This site links to Stripe and may link to documentation or repositories. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites.

15. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acknowledgment of the updated policy for new interactions.
